August Long Weekend 2007--Civic Holiday in Ontario Aug. 3-6

Canada's Civic Holiday Weekend is the second last long weekend of the Summer and is a great time for a Toronto visit as this holiday was originally organized only for Torontonians. In Toronto this day is known as Simcoe Day, and in Ottawa according to Wikipedia is called Colonel By Day.

Simcoe set the capital of Ontario in Toronto in 1793 and renamed the location York . Simcoe was a bit of a Romantic and his wife Elizabeth Simcoe wrote extensively in a Diary See Travels with Elizabeth Simcoe.
