North American Harvest in Full Swing

Posted by Picasa Agritourist or Historical Tourist?

A compelling story on the "Agritourist", in today's Globe and Mail makes one pause about our good fortunes here in North America. Author, Dani Couture starts with references to Alaskan smoked salmon, northern Ontario clover honey, and Chatham-Kent county peaches. Yummm! Couture goes on to add more culinary taste treats from Quebec, Lake Erie's shoreline. My only disagreement is with the lead-in to the article. Our rich food supply is indeed part of our cultural and historical institutions, dating back centuries to the first settlers and pioneers who have toiled to create a rich agricultural heritage. I recently returned from Seattle (Photo of Pikes Market on the Waterfront in Seattle), The abundance of fruits, vegetables, seafood, meats, and specialty recipes of various condiments is truley amazing.
